Care Guide

Leather Care & Recommended Products

We design our bags to age naturally, but the right care will help extend their life and preserve their character. Below are our recommended product types for each leather.

Full Grain Leather:

Full grain leather is durable and benefits from minimal intervention.

Best products to use:

  • A neutral leather conditioner or balm (used sparingly)

  • A soft cotton or microfiber cloth

How often:
Condition lightly every 6–12 months, or when the leather feels dry.

Avoid:
Heavy oils, coloured polishes, or over-conditioning, which can darken the leather unevenly.

Top Grain Leather:

Top grain leather has a more refined surface and requires gentle care.

Best products to use:

  • A lightweight leather cream or conditioner

  • Soft cloth for gentle buffing

How often:
As needed, typically 1–2 times per year.

Avoid:
Harsh cleaners or wax-heavy products that can alter the finish.

Cow Suede:

Suede is softer and more delicate, and should be kept as dry as possible.

Best products to use:

  • A suede brush (natural rubber or soft bristle)

  • A suede eraser for small marks

  • Optional: Suede protector spray (test first)

How often:
Brush lightly when needed to lift the nap and remove surface dust.

Avoid:
Water, liquid cleaners, or traditional leather conditioners.

Cowhide:

Cowhide is naturally varied and each piece is one of a kind.

Best products to use:

  • A dry or slightly damp cloth for surface cleaning

  • Very light use of a neutral leather conditioner only if needed

How often:
Minimal — cowhide benefits from gentle use and careful storage.

Avoid:
Excessive conditioning, moisture, and friction, which can disrupt the natural pattern.

General Care Tips (For All Bags):

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or moisture

  • Store in a dust bag when not in use

  • Allow leather to age naturally — small marks and softening are part of the process

A Note on Aging

Leather is a living material. Over time, your bag may soften, darken slightly, or develop natural markings. This is not a flaw — it’s part of what makes each piece uniquely yours.

How should I care for light vs. dark leather bags?

Light-coloured leathers

Lighter leathers may show wear, markings, and colour transfer more easily than darker shades.

  • Avoid prolonged contact with dark denim or dyed fabrics, especially when new

  • Handle with clean, dry hands

  • Expect gradual darkening and patina over time — this is natural and part of the aging process

Marks on light leather are normal and reflect wear, not defects.

Dark-coloured leathers

Darker leathers tend to disguise wear more easily.

  • Patina may appear more subtly

  • Scuffs and markings are less visible but still part of natural aging

  • Care and storage recommendations remain the same as lighter leathers

How should I care for vinyl bags?

Our vinyl bags are made using upholstery-grade vinyl and finished with full grain leather straps.

  • Wipe the vinyl gently with a soft, damp cloth if needed

  • Avoid harsh cleaners, alcohol-based products, or solvents

  • Keep away from excessive heat or prolonged direct sunlight

  • Leather straps on vinyl bags should be cared for following leather care guidelines

Vinyl offers durability and ease of care, but should still be treated thoughtfully to maintain its finish.
